- ULO1 Identify, interpret and critically evaluate the various technologies that have the potential to provide a sustainable energy supply system.
- ULO2 Evaluate technical and non-technical challenges associated with the sustainable energy resources.
- ULO3 Discuss and assess suitable sustainable energy sources/systems under different situations.
- ULO4 Implement underlying engineering principles to evaluate and improve sustainable energy technologies and systems.
- ULO5 Develop and implement creative approaches to solve various energy related problems using suitable sustainable energy sources/systems under different circumstances.
教学方式与预期工作量
教学方式
Case-based teaching - Presentation and analysis of different sustainable energy technologies case studies during the workshop.
Active learning - In this unit, lectures and practicals are used to introduce, clarify and guide students through the concepts of sustainable energy technologies, and illustrate their application through examples. Lectures will involve active learning through participation, collaborative discussion and reflection on concepts and their application to the industrial world. Further reflection and engagement are facilitated through pre-class and post-class activities.
Laboratory work includes practical experiments and some simulation-based component which will help students to have hands-on experience and a higher-order understanding of the concepts and theory of renewable energy technologies.
Field trips
Research activities
Problem-based learning - The ability to solve practical problems rely on an understanding of the concepts and engineering principles behind the sustainable energy technologies and "private study" will be required to understand these concepts. The aim is to solve the real-life problems that you may face in your career. To aid in this goal, emphasis is placed on the hands-on experiment and problem solving techniques. Problem-solving is reinforced through practical classes.
预期工作量
The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
