课程简介
In this unit, you examine major global trends shaping the contemporary media industries. You consider transnational flows of content, technology and profits and their implications for broader industry structures. You explore established and emerging power dynamics in the global media industries, including major new centres of media power and influence. You also explore important challenges to regional, local, public service and community media in the face of increased digital convergence, transnationalism and privatisation of media companies. Drawing on diverse international examples, you consider major challenges and opportunities for the global media industries and assesses the capacity of industry and national governments in undertaking effective regulation.

- ULO1 Identify and explain the business models of new and established media companies and industries;
- ULO2 Critically analyse regulatory, industry and community responses to issues arising from digital disruption, convergence, globalisation and geopolitics;
- ULO3 Assess the political, economic and regulatory contexts for contemporary media organisation/s, and identify potential issues for stakeholders;
- ULO4 Communicate research findings and insights in a clear, concise, accurate and engaging way using appropriate audio/visual elements and written reporting conventions.
