课程简介
The unit aims to provide you with comprehensive coverage of carbon management and the energy-efficient practices that guide the sustainability strategies and the attainment of a low-carbon future. Accurate measurement of carbon footprint across the entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to disposal or recycling, is crucial for making informed decisions about carbon footprint reduction. An overview of methodologies for identifying, quantifying, accounting and reporting greenhouse gas emissions will be introduced. The unit integrates carbon footprint assessment with energy management, allowing a holistic approach to achieve emissions reduction and energy optimisation. The interconnectedness of energy systems, resource use, and environmental impact will be covered. The unit also explores energy management systems and software, emphasising efficiency improvements, carbon offsetting, and renewable energy integration. By introducing real-world case studies, you will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge of carbon management to practical scenarios.

Problem-based learning - This unit includes problem-based learning approaches, where you will engage in research, integrate theory and practice and apply knowledge and skills to develop viable solutions in response to a problem or set of problems.
Active learning - You will be actively applying your knowledge, skills and attributes in interactive, collaborative and reflective activities.
预期工作量
The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
