课程简介

This unit extends the level of complexity of automation/mechatronic designs by integrating and applying knowledge that you have developed throughout the course of your degree. This unit provides you with the opportunity to learn project planning, communication skills and teamwork to complete an integrated design project (IDP). It will include the use and appreciation of the evolution of mechatronic technologies, design tools and methodologies, concurrent engineering design support tools, mechatronics design process, requirement interpretation and design optimisation. Societal, health, safety legal and cultural aspects will also be considered where appropriate.

  1. ULO1 Design a mechatronic automation system to solve engineering problems, by applying engineering fundamentals such as mechanisms, mechanics, electronics, programming, and control.
  2. ULO2 Evaluate design methodologies and project development models to choose and utilise the appropriate ones to achieve design and functional requirements.
  3. ULO3 Use appropriate engineering software tools for design and simulation to achieve design requirements.
  4. ULO4 Justify and communicate technical details of a mechatronics solution(s) in written and oral forms.
  5. ULO5 Reflect on teamwork, project management, leadership and conflict resolution in the context of group projects and activities.
  6. ULO6 Appraise societal, health, safety, legal and cultural aspects such as impacts and constraints of an engineering project.
  7. ULO7 Manage an engineering project in an organised and coherent manner demonstrating optimal use of resources and delivering the desired outcomes within the given amount of time.

预期工作量

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
